From the Blue Ridge Parkway
Exit near Milepost 259 at the Northwest Trading Post, and turn right onto N.C. 16 North. Stay on N.C. 16, no matter what it does, until you get to the North Fork New River bridge. (It’s a brand new 3-lane bridge.) Turn left at the end of the bridge onto Old Field Creek Road and bear right at the bottom of the little hill.Our land starts there at the bridge, and River House is the first building you come to, half a mile upriver on the right.
From Charlotte
Take I-77 North. Twenty-one miles past Statesville are two right-hand exits. The first is U.S. 421 South going to Winston-Salem. Take the next exit, immediately afterward, U.S. 421 North to Wilkesboro. About 20 minutes later you’ll get to Wilkesboro. Stay straight; do not take the Business route. At the fifth traffic light in Wilkesboro, turn right on N.C. 16 North and set your trip-meter for 34 miles. Stay on N.C. 16, no matter what it does. At 34 miles you should be at the North Fork New River bridge (It’s a brand new 3-lane bridge.) Turn left at the end of the bridge onto Old Field Creek Road and bear right at the bottom of the little hill. Take I-40 West to Winston-Salem. The last Winston-Salem exit is U.S. 421 North going to Wilkesboro. Take that exit. Leave Winston-Salem on U.S. 421 North, going to Wilkesboro. From Kingsport, Bristol, Abingdon
Take I-81 north to Marion, Virginia. Turn right on 16 South to Mouth of Wilson.Take 16 South from Mouth of Wilson. After nine miles, you reach the North Fork of the New River; do not cross the bridge but turn right on Old Field Creek Road and bear right at the bottom of the little hill. From Mount Airy
Go west out of Mount Airy on N.C. 89; turn left on N.C.18 (watch carefully; it’s easy to miss) to Sparta. Turn right on U.S. 21 North. Leave Sparta on U.S. 21 North. A few miles out of town U.S. 21 turns right going to Independence. Don’t. Stay straight on U.S. 221 for eight-tenths of a mile and veer right on 93. Stay on 93, making the right turn at the “T.” Cross the bridge over the New River and turn left on U.S. 58 West. After 1.4 miles turn left on 16 South at Mouth of Wilson.Take 16 South from Mouth of Wilson. After nine miles, you reach the North Fork of the New River; do not cross the bridge but turn right on Old Field Creek Road and bear right at the bottom of the little hill. From Roanoke and Points North
Two interstates come down from the North. If you are taking I-81 South, turn onto I-77 South north of Wytheville. Take the Hillsville-Galax exit, turn right on U.S. 58 West. Go through Galax and Independence to Mouth of Wilson. Turn left on 16 South. Take N.C. 16 South from Mouth of Wilson. After nine miles, you reach the North Fork of the New River; do not cross the bridge but turn right on Old Field Creek Road and bear right at the bottom of the little hill. From Sparta
